Why Support Biden?
Vice President Joe Biden believes that America is multilingual and multicultural. He knows that the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community is a core chapter of the American story. “Our country’s ability to draw hard-working people from every culture and every nation has always made us stronger.” The Obama-Biden Administration re-established the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to improve the lives of AAPIs in the United States through federal programs, inter-agency coordination, and outreach to AAPI stakeholders. Joe knows that “we’re in a battle for the soul of America. Our country needs moral leadership and a unifying force in the White House, rather than a divisive one, to fight hatred and injustice.” As president, Joe will continue his lifelong commitment to ensure that every member of the AAPI community is treated with dignity—no matter their race or ethnicity—and has a fair shot at the American Dream.
Joe is a staunch supporter of minorities, including South Asian Americans. “Biden will ensure that South Asian Americans are represented in his administration, starting with his Vice-Presidential nominee, Senator Kamala Harris, whose mother emigrated from India to study and build a life in the United States. Our government will reflect the diversity of the United States.”
During the Obama-Biden Administration, the FBI expanded its hate crime statistics program to include Sikhs, Hindus, and Buddhists. Biden will also seek legislation that increases the potential sentence for certain hate crimes that occur in houses of worship and other religious community sites, such as gurudwaras, mandirs, temples, and mosques. And, he will use his executive power to ensure that the Department of Justice pursues such heinous acts of violence against houses of worship to the fullest extent of the law.
Kamala is the best VP Choice
Joe Biden knows the strength of immigrant communities to build America better and stronger. Senator Kamala Harris is the first Black and South Asian American woman to be nominated as a vice-presidential candidate. Kamala Harris grew up in an immigrant family believing in the promise of America. She has fought to make sure that promise is fulfilled for all Americans. Kamala’s father immigrated to the US from Jamaica to study economics and her mother immigrated from India. Kamala has the firsthand experience of the struggles of immigrant families like ours in the United States.
